Tab Closer privacy policy

Effective date: August 26, 2026

Tab Closer finds and closes browser tabs with matching URLs and titles. This policy explains what data it reads, where that data stays, and what the developer receives.

Tab data

Tab Closer reads the URL, title, loading state, audible state, window, and tab-group placement of each open tab. It uses this information to find matches, show the review list, close the tabs you select, and restore the last closed batch.

Tab Closer does not read page content. Tabs with the same URL but different titles stay open. You can exclude sites where the same URL and title may hold different work.

Tab Closer also reads the site rules you add in Settings. These rules tell it which domains to exclude or how to compare their URLs.

Data use

Tab Closer processes tab data on your device for its duplicate-tab feature. It does not create accounts, run analytics, show ads, build profiles, or use your tab data for another purpose.

Tab Closer's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Storage

Chrome sync storage holds your settings. Chrome may synchronize them when you enable browser sync. Chrome session storage holds the last closed batch so Undo can restore it. A new cleanup replaces the previous Undo batch. Using Undo removes that batch.

The developer does not operate an application or backend server for Tab Closer and does not collect user data. A static public site can host this policy. The extension does not send tab data, settings, or other user information to that site.

Sharing and sale

Tab Closer does not sell, share, or send tab data or settings to the developer, advertisers, data brokers, or other companies.

Security

Tab Closer ships all executable code in the extension package. It does not load remote code, make network requests, or send user data to the developer or other companies. Chrome may synchronize settings as described above when you enable browser sync.

Your controls

You can change or restore settings from the extension's Settings page. You can turn one-click mode off in the popup after any toolbar click. Removing Tab Closer from Chrome removes its extension data under Chrome's uninstall rules. You control synchronized data through your Chrome account and sync settings.

Policy changes

The developer will update the effective date and publish the revised policy at the same URL when this policy changes.
